Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I have always enjoyed talking with people and helping them solve their own issues. The reward you have to see someone come in not feeling their best and months later seeing them in a better place is priceless.
What types of clients do you work with best?
My specialties include anxiety, depression, trauma, chronic illness and crisis management. My favorite modalities of treatment are CBT cognitive behavioral therapy, person centered, motivational interviewing, strength focused, mindfulness and Solution-focused.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
All clients who are willing to show up and be vulnerable.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
Therapy is not cookie cutter. Therapy will bring out tone of emotions that you did not know you had. Sometimes in therapy you have to go through things to start the process of healing.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
It was a place I kept coming back to. I was drawn to a place that was offering so much and all they wanted from me was to do what I love.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by many things like my family, friends and children. Being able to watch people thrive and grown always pushes me to do a little more.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
The first session I will ask questions and listen to the answers provided. I like to take notes and then at the end provide my observations to ensure we are both on the same path to working on the best goals for you.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
The first session is an introduction into the process and if interested a plan for how to move forward will be established. This knowledge of what they can expect from me and potentially determining steps on how to move forward.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
I provide a safe and comfortable environment that allows people to be open, honest and judgement free.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I love spending time with family/friends, binging tv shows, reading and being any place by water.
