About Scott
Scott Beach is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who has 16 years of experience in the mental health field. Scott has worked in several different areas, including private and state-run psychiatric hospitals with adults and children, as an outpatient therapist for a community mental health child and family program, and in a hospital emergency room to help assess individuals who might need hospitalization. These enriching experiences have allowed Scott the opportunity to develop competency in treating a broad range of clients with diverse mental health and substance use issues. He enjoys working with young persons and families, and with people who are dealing with trauma and challenging issues.
The skills and experience that Scott brings to a counseling relationship help him meet people where they are, help them assess what they are doing well and what they want to change, and help them find ways to make those changes. He uses different counseling techniques tailored to each client's needs. Scott's theoretical perspective is eclectic, with a strong grounding in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and insight-oriented work. He is also trained to provide eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR).

"You are the expert on you. My expertise is in helping people make the changes they desire to live healthy, happy, and productive lives. "
Get to know Scott
Why did you decide to become a counselor?
As I was growing up, I knew that I wanted to help others and I began to notice that people would come to me and share complex conflicts and feelings with me. I have always found those moments meaningful and I wanted to become a counselor to better prepare myself to help people when they shared significant fears, hopes, and experiences with me.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
In your greatest moment, you are fallible, transformable and loveable. In your greatest "failure," you are fallible, transformable and loveable.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
Thriveworks prioritizes the experience of our clients. I really like the customer-service like focus on working with clients to get them in to appointments and soon as possible.
What inspires you?
Hope. And watching people start to make desired changes in their lives.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
We have a short period of time for us to get to know each other. There is some information that I will need to share with you about counseling and about my style of counseling. Other than that, I want to hear about what is working well for you and what could be better.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
Helping them realize that they are not alone.
