About Nathan
I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with 9 years of experience in the mental health field. I have worked in residential facilities, skills-building programs, case management, and crisis intervention settings. I specialize in helping individuals process trauma, manage anxiety and depression, navigate life transitions, and rebuild a sense of meaning and stability in their lives.
I earned my master’s degree in counseling from Oregon State University. My therapeutic approach is collaborative and client-centered, drawing from cognitive behavioral therapy, existential therapy, and person-centered therapy. I tailor treatment to each individual’s needs while honoring the client’s voice and personal strengths.
I believe healing happens in a safe, respectful, and supportive environment. While the work can feel challenging at times, it can also be deeply rewarding. I strive to build a strong therapeutic alliance and support you as you move through life’s challenges with greater clarity, resilience, and confidence.

"As someone who has experienced depression and loss, I understand how we can be impacted by feelings of hopelessness and how one can heal and gain a new perspective on life."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a counselor after my first direct service job. I was providing skills building services to adults. Being a part of someone's support system was a very powerful and meaningful experience. I understood that I could be more effective in supporting and healing others. I decided the next year to return to school in order to pursue this goal.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with clients who desire an authentic, warm relationship where individuality is valued. I also value individuals that take an active role in their healing and examining their thoughts, beliefs, and emotions.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
Counseling can feel frightening at times when addressing real, emotionally charged subjects. This is part of the healing process and leaning into the discomfort leads to growth. It's like stepping through a ring of fire. You may come out burned on the other side, but you will eventually heal and are not at risk of being further hurt.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
We will meet initially and discuss your needs. Healing looks different for everyone and addressing your unique goals is critical during the first stages. We will also build rapport and form an authentic client-counselor relationship. I find it valuable to check in and discuss how you feel our work is going.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
Growth and healing is not one defined destination. Respecting and nurturing autonomy is a duty of counselors.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I use many techniques as counseling in not a one-size-fits-all approach. We will identify strengths to contribute to your treatment. Also, I like to ask clients what has worked and not worked in the past so we can build on what was effective and avoid that which was not.
