Why did you decide to become a counselor?
From a young age I recognized the value of communication and attempted to understand what motivated the behavior of others. I feel personally fulfilled when I am able to help people and thrive on making a positive impact on others. I enjoy the process of figuring out solutions that lead to healing and this is my life's goal.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with clients that are receptive to ideas that may be different, as my approach is eclectic and encompasses a holistic perspective.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients knew that their personal vision of success is achievable but that it takes time and effort. Things may feel worse before they get better so it's important to remain dedicated to the counseling process.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by people that persevere and overcome challenges that once served as barriers.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
The first session is an opportunity to introduce one another to determine compatibility and how I can best support the client. In addition, this is a time to ensure that all policies are accepted and understood.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want the client to feel welcomed and accepted so that they feel as comfortable as possible opening up to me. My goal is to begin to get a clear idea of how to proceed with the client and to develop an effective course of treatment.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I enjoy being active and love nature, so anything that includes both is essential for my mental health. This includes running, walking, hiking, biking and swimming. As an introvert I also enjoy reading, writing and drawing / painting. I listen to many genres of music and various podcasts, rarely having a day that doesn't include both.
