Get to know Megan

Why did you decide to become a counselor?

I have always wanted to be in a profession that helps people, and psychology classes were always my favorite when I was in school.

What types of clients do you work with best?

I work best with clients who are ready to be engaged in the therapeutic relationship/process.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

I am excited to work with anyone, but I especially like working on anxiety management techniques and mood disorder coping skills.

What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?

That it’s okay not to be okay.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

The company values, I really appreciate what they have to offer for both clients and employees. I enjoy the scheduling flexibility and the ability to see clients remotely.

What inspires you?

Traveling, relationships with friends and family, nature and reading. I also get a lot inspiration (and happiness) from my 3 dogs.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

During the first session we should determine what lead you to therapy, what your goals are and establish a treatment plan for future sessions.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

I hope that by the end of our first session that my clients feel that they are in a safe space where they can allow themselves to be open.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?

That I will listen to their concerns and that I am a very open, direct, and nonjudgmental person. They should also know that I've been in their shoes, and I know how hard it can be to reach out for help.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

Traveling, spending time with my family and friends, playing with my 3 dogs, reading, going for walks, watching movies or streaming shows and spending time at the lake.

What’s one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

My integrity.
