Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
As a Christian, I believe that God has a plan for each person. When we experience hardship, I believe there is meaning in that hardship. To be a small part of my clients' journeys is something I consider a blessing.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work well with clients who have a desire to put in the work to achieve their goals. I also work well with clients who share a Christian background.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I look forward to helping clients work through trauma and anxiety of all kinds.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
Simply attending therapy is not the "silver bullet" some people believe it to be. It often takes a lot of work and personal reflection to achieve one's goals.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
Thriveworks' nationwide network of practitioners was appealing to me, because it allows me to learn from so many different people.
What inspires you?
Seeing people overcome hardship, and using what they have learned to help others.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
In the first session, we will talk a little about your background, what you hope to achieve in counseling, and what brought you here in the first place. We will also talk about what is important to you, and develop a game plan for sessions moving forward.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
My goal for the first session is that you walk away feeling heard and understood. I want to use this time to build a working relationship with you and understand what is important to you moving forward.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
My expectation of you is that you come to counseling ready to put in the work to achieve your goals.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
During my time off, you'll usually find me cooking, baking, or crocheting.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
As a Christian, I believe that I am defined by my salvation in Christ and my relationship with Him.
