Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
My journey to becoming a counselor was shaped by both personal and shared experiences. Growing up with friends facing mental health challenges ignited a deep passion in me to help others. After embarking on my own personal therapeutic journey, I saw the healing that took place in my life and felt inspired to provide the same compassionate support to others.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I welcome clients of all genders and backgrounds, but I have significant experience working with women. I particularly connect well with late teens and young to middle adults, helping them navigate their unique challenges.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am particularly passionate about working with young adults, as this stage of life is often filled with challenging transitions, identity exploration, emotional awareness, and relationship navigation. I look forward to guiding them in reflecting on their past—such as childhood trauma and attachment issues—to identify what may be negatively affecting their present and to help them make meaningful changes for the future.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients knew that it's okay to struggle and seek help. Everyone faces challenges, and struggling doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with you. Your experiences are valid, and you have unique value to offer the world. While it can be daunting to share your struggles, your voice deserves to be heard, and you deserve a positive therapeutic relationship to help navigate these challenges and achieve healing.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I chose to practice at Thriveworks because I admire their commitment to providing quality counseling services to individuals of all genders and backgrounds. I resonate with their dedication to creating a safe, comfortable, and trusting environment where clients can explore important issues and work toward their healing and goals.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by the opportunity to sit with clients, learn their stories, and witness the positive impact of therapy each week. Seeing their gradual growth from sadness and struggle to healing and joy fuels my passion for the field of counseling.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
During the first session, I focus on getting to know each client and allowing them to get comfortable with me as their counselor. We’ll identify the areas they want to work on, discuss potential treatment goals, and set expectations for our time together in therapy.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
In the first session, I aim to understand why the client sought therapy, explore their past experiences with counseling, and clarify their hopes and expectations for our work together. My goal is to establish a connection that fosters safety and trust, showing them that I’m not just a therapist, but a real person who understands the challenges they face.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
Before scheduling a first session, clients should know that I am a resident in counseling, practicing under the supervision of a licensed professional counselor. I am genuine and authentic, and my personality shines through in my approach to treatment. I love to laugh (when appropriate) and enjoy discussing clients' strengths and victories in addition to providing empathy and support during difficult times.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
In my free time, I love crocheting and getting creative with arts and crafts. I enjoy being outdoors in nature and traveling, whether it’s a quick getaway or an adventure abroad. I’m all about trying new foods, checking out fun restaurants, and discovering cool coffee shops. I also love art and music, from concerts to fun nights out. Most of all, I cherish spending time with my loved ones and my pet cat.
