About Graciela
I am a Resident in Counseling with 4 years of experience supporting adults and teenagers with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, parenting struggles, relationship challenges, and life transitions. Being bilingual in Spanish and English allows me to serve the Spanish-speaking community and welcome individuals from diverse backgrounds. I also have experience working with the immigrant population and strive to provide compassionate, culturally responsive care that meets clients where they are.
I earned my Master’s in Counseling and Human Development and Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Radford University. My approach is holistic and includes person-centered, multicultural, cognitive behavioral therapy, expressive arts, solution-focused, and supportive-directive methods, tailored to each client’s needs.
I understand that life can feel difficult and overwhelming at times. I believe healing and growth are possible when trust and rapport are built, and I will walk alongside you at your own pace in the journey toward well-being. Together, we can create space for hope, resilience, and meaningful change.

"As a therapist, I understand the importance of providing a safe, non-judgmental space in which individuals are met with kindness and where trust can grow and healing can begin."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
From a young age, I found that people often felt comfortable confiding in me. I realized that being heard and understood by someone else can be rewarding. I have always enjoyed listening, and I’m naturally empathetic. I believe everyone deserves a space where they can vent and feel supported. Over time, I also saw a real need in my community for Spanish speaking therapists for individuals who can express themselves in their first language and feel culturally understood. I became a counselor, so that I can offer a welcoming, compassionate space for anyone.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with adults navigating life challenges including depression, anxiety, and healthy relationships with others. My approach is to offer an environment where individuals feel comfortable discussing these challenges.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am most excited to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Every person’s story, culture, language, identity, and life experience shapes who they are.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
You don’t have to have all the answers when you begin therapy. It’s okay not knowing exactly what you want or where you’re headed. Sometimes it can be challenging to know where you want to begin in your therapeutic journey. Also, choosing to prioritize yourself takes courage it means you believe you deserve peace, understanding, and healing.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I chose to work at Thriveworks because it emphasizes accessibility and flexibility for clients by offering sessions both in person and online. I also resonated with Thriveworks’ mission to provide high quality care with warmth, and respect. It felt like a place where I could practice in a way that honors empathy, and connection for each client.
What inspires you?
What inspires me most as a therapist is witnessing the transformation in people’s lives from the challenges they face at the beginning, to the growth they build toward their goals. Nothing brings me more joy than seeing clients gain clarity, strength, and as they reach their aspirations. Helping someone feel heard, supporting them through their mental health journey, and getting to celebrate each milestone whether that be big or small is the foundation of my inspiration
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Client's can expect to be welcomed with a safe, non-judgmental approach with the focus to be building trust and rapport.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I focus on discussing what brought you to therapy and what you're hoping to achieve. There's no rush to share everything at once; you set the pace. Together, we'll explore your thoughts, feelings, and goals in a supportive and safe environment.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session
I deeply value empathy and strive to understand your unique experiences and perspectives. Listening is something I truly enjoy, and I am committed to getting to know your thoughts, feelings, and aspirations. Our work together will be a collaborative process, where your voice is central, and your growth is the priority.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I enjoy listening to music, spending time with my family, and watching T.V shows.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
What defines me is my belief that kindness and respect have the power to truly impact others.
