About Danielle
Danielle Smith is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with years of experience in the mental health field. She is passionate about helping adolescents, adults, and couples address their unique challenges and live more fulfilled lives. Danielle specializes in trauma, PTSD, C-PTSD, depression, anxiety, grief, relationship issues, and substance misuse.
Danielle completed her Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University. She utilizes multiple treatment approaches including mindfulness, somatic breathing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and solution-focused therapy (SFT).

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
Helping people has always been my passion. After decades of hurt and hurting, I knew I wanted to help bring peace and acceptance to those who have been through so much.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
You are not helpless, you CAN heal!
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
Thriveworks offers accessibility to clients that was not available a few years ago.
What inspires you?
Inspiration for me comes from the ocean, and the outdoors. It also comes from learning new things and from my children and family.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
During our first session, we will work through some administrative tasks and work on getting to know each other.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
Initially, I would want to work on building reassurance and confidence in the logistics of the process and work on building confidence.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
I have experienced a lot of trauma over the course of my life. Healing takes time and patience with yourself.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I enjoy going to the beach, camping, hiking and spending time with my grown children and my grandchildren.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I am a strong advocate for people who are struggling.
Can you tell us about a success you had with a client?
I have worked with many families who have changed the way interact to break generational patterns of trauma.
