Why did you decide to become a counselor?
To help people. Our problems can feel very overwhelming when we are in them. I wanted my clients to know there is a way out, and to help them get there.
What types of clients do you work with best?
Motivated clients who are willing to not take themselves too seriously.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
People who are at the point where they are willing to try almost anything to get where they want to go. Seeing that surge of motivation to get better is so exciting for me as a counselor.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
They are more capable than they know!
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
Thriveworks has locations all over! I love that no matter where our clients are, they are not far from help.
What inspires you?
The way that my kids look up to me.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
You can expect me to ask you the "why" of counseling, as well as what your goals are. You can expect me to tell you that I see SO much hope in you, because I have yet to find someone who was beyond hope. And you can expect me to provide a warm, safe space for you to take off the act and just be YOU.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want each person to have their questions about counseling to be answered, for me to know what the goals are moving forward, and for us to know when we are meeting next.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
Take way too many pictures of my family and our dog, work on renovating my home, and get outside!
What’s one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
My complete adoration for chips and salsa.....and my husband and kids :)
