Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
My whole life, I have always wanted to help people. I was drawn to giving those without a voice the ability to be heard and making changes that could help people. I have always wanted to make major change - my first protest on Capitol Hill was when I was 7! I love seeing people grow, heal, and make peace.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work well with motivated individuals who are ready for change! I am passionate about giving feedback and perspective taking skills with my clients. I see a lot of clients who are neurodivergent and want open and honest communication, which I excel at.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
Every client is different and every client is someone who brings their own unique history and experiences to the table, so each client relationship is different! I love helping those in major life transitions, women with work life balance and/or those with a late in life diagnosis, working with the LGBTQIA+ and transgender population to aid in medical transition and family work, and neurodivergent individuals who want to better understand their brain.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
Therapy can be hard! Healing takes time! I like to compare therapy to working out with weights, it might make you sore at first, but eventually you are able to build your empathy and perspective "muscles" and get stronger!
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I wanted to start my private practice journey with a well-established organization that's name evocs trust from their clients!
What inspires you?
I will always be inspired by those who stand up and challenge adversity
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
I want to get to know you! I will probably ask a lot of questions and hear about your previous experiences with therapy if you had any. I want to hear your likes and dislikes and what makes you tick! I want you to be able to be behind the wheel and let me sit in the passenger seat to help you every step of the way in your healing journey!
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want to be able to build a partnership, we are all strangers until we are not! One of my first questions I like to ask is: what brings you in now for therapy? These questions will help in figuring out which approach is best for you. I want you to be able to build that therapeutic partnership right off the bat!
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
Therapy can be scary and overwhelming. If you have had a bad experience historically or have heard bad things about therapy, it can be very easy to feel anxious or overwhelmed by the experience. I want you to know that I am here to help you at every step of the way. Do you have questions? Ask them! I will always be open and honest and answer everything (to my knowledge, of course!)
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I firmly believe in "practicing what you preach" which includes health management and work/life balance! I am an avid reader and participate in a book club for other therapy providers. I have an unlimited movie pass subscription so I will see pretty much any movie in the theater if I have time. I am a passionate home chef and baker and love feeding friends and family whenever possible. I love crafting and doing lego sets with my partner. We hope to have every lego botanical set on the market! Because I care about physical wellness just as much as emotional wellness, you will also find me at the gym, doing group HIIT workouts, and weightlifting.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I have a background in theater and comedy, I taught improv to teenagers, so I love making people smile and laugh!
