About Tanya
I'm a licensed professional counselor with experience providing therapy across various settings, including schools, community-based programs, telehealth, and private practice. I work primarily with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, emotional dysregulation, trauma, relationship and family stress, identity exploration, and major life transitions. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, emotionally stuck, or disconnected from themselves and are looking to understand their patterns, strengthen emotional regulation and communication, build healthier relationships, and feel more confident.
My approach blends CBT, DBT-informed skills, strengths-based work, and trauma-informed care to help clients understand their emotions, recognize patterns, and build tools they can use. I specialize in anxiety, emotional regulation, trauma, relationship and family concerns, identity exploration, and life transitions.
Healing is a journey, and you deserve care and support through every stage, not just when things feel overwhelming. Whether you're beginning to unpack what you've been carrying, navigating change, or continuing to grow into who you want to become, I'm here to hold space for you. Reach out when you're ready.

"I believe therapy works best when you feel genuinely seen, supported, and gently challenged to turn insight into meaningful change."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I became a counselor because of my own experiences navigating different systems and recognizing how difficult it can be to find spaces where you feel fully seen, understood, and accepted. I wanted to become the kind of provider I believe more people need, someone who creates room for those who may find themselves defying the “norm,” navigating complex identities or experiences, and seeking a space where they can show up authentically without having to minimize who they are.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with clients who are ready and willing to engage in the therapeutic process, challenge themselves, explore patterns with curiosity, and take meaningful steps toward growth both inside and outside of session.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
Healing is not linear, and progress does not always look like feeling better right away. Sometimes it looks like becoming more aware, setting a boundary, sitting with discomfort, or choosing a different response than you would have before. Sometimes healing also means going back, revisiting old experiences, and intentionally undoing patterns, beliefs, or ways of coping that once helped you survive but no longer serve who you are becoming.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In our first session and the early stages of therapy, you can expect me to be thorough and intentional about getting to know you beyond just what brought you in. I want to understand how your mind works, the emotional and behavioral patterns you’ve developed, and the experiences or reasoning that may exist underneath them. Together, we’ll begin connecting the dots so we can better understand not only **what** is happening, but **why**, and determine what meaningful change can look like for you.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My practice is deeply informed by my own experiences navigating identity, relationships, and systems that do not always leave room for people who exist outside of the “norm.” I value authenticity, cultural awareness, curiosity, and creating a space where clients do not have to shrink or over-explain themselves to be understood. Those values shape my commitment to meeting people where they are while still encouraging them to challenge patterns, build self-trust, and grow into a life that feels more aligned with who they are.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor therapy by taking the time to understand each client’s experiences, identity, communication style, strengths, and the patterns that influence how they think, feel, and respond. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach, so I adjust the pace, interventions, and level of challenge based on what feels most supportive and effective for each person.
