Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I made the decision to become a counselor so I could do my part to help heal and restore aspects of the human psyche injured by adversity and trauma.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I specialize in working with adults and seniors.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
Each client comes in with a unique mix of experiences, personal history, and values. These can serve as an important lens through which I can investigate what works best for the client. Witnessing change, no matter how long it takes, is what I find most exciting.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
If they embrace the possibility, they might find that their fiercest and most loyal ally is within.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
Access to mental health services is important to me. Thriveworks is actively removing barriers through its expanded reach, and this closely aligns with my philosophy as a counselor.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by the prospect of continuously improving and the opportunity to incorporate innovative methods into my practice.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect a supportive and non-judgmental environment. Individuals who are already familiar with the counseling process may be aware that the first session involves a good amount of information gathering. Beyond this, the first session serves as an opportunity to understand the client’s expectations and therapeutic goals. Where the counseling process is entirely new to a client, I carve out time to address concerns that may cause some hesitation to proceed.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I would want to work with the client to create a sense of psychological safety and craft a vision for success.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
I appreciate the courage it takes to reach out to a counselor for help. It can be particularly daunting for a client whose help-seeking behavior runs counter to doing so. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment that takes a client’s culture, history, and values into account.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
Reading is my favorite pastime. I get great satisfaction from turning the pages of a book.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I enjoy immersing myself in different cultures and ways of life.
