About Provider

About Samantha

I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with 4 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, and adults through anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, and stress related to health or family dynamics. I have experience in both medical and therapy settings and offer compassionate, culturally responsive care that honors each client’s values and lived experiences.

I earned my master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. My approach is collaborative and strength-based, grounded in acceptance and commitment therapy. I help clients better understand their thoughts and emotions while building practical coping skills that support meaningful, values-driven change.

If you are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure where to begin, therapy can be a supportive next step. I strive to create a safe, welcoming space where you feel heard and accepted. Together, we will move at a pace that feels right for you and work toward greater balance, resilience, and growth.

Get to know Samantha

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I became a counselor because I’ve always been drawn to helping people feel understood during difficult seasons of life. I’m inspired by the courage it takes to ask for support, and I wanted a career where I could walk alongside people as they build coping skills, reconnect with their strengths, and move toward a more meaningful life.

What types of clients do you work best with?

I work best with clients who want a supportive, collaborative space to better understand themselves and develop coping skills. This includes adults, teens, and children navigating anxiety, depression, mood concerns, trauma, grief, stress related to health or caregiving, and life transitions.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

I wish clients knew that needing support is not a weakness. Seeking help is a courageous step, and therapy works best when you allow yourself to show up honestly, even when things feel messy or uncertain.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

Clients can expect a warm, supportive first session where the focus will be placed on getting to know them and what brought them into therapy. We’ll review confidentiality, discuss goals, and explore current concerns at a pace that feels comfortable. Early sessions focus on building trust, understanding patterns, and developing practical coping skills we can begin using right away.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

Both my personal and professional experiences have shown me how life stressors, transitions, and health challenges can impact emotional well-being. These experiences guide my collaborative, empathetic approach and focus on building practical skills that support resilience and meaningful change. My work is also shaped by respect for culture, identity, and context, and I take time to understand each client’s background, relationships, and lived experiences to offer inclusive, affirming care

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

I tailor therapy by taking time to understand each client’s goals, values, cultural background, and current stressors. Sessions are collaborative and flexible, allowing me to adjust approaches, pace, and tools based on what feels most helpful. I regularly check in to ensure therapy feels supportive, relevant, and aligned with each client’s needs.
