About Naomi
Naomi Brown (she, they) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Supervisor with 10 years of experience in the mental health field. Naomi's approach is eclectic, incorporating a variety of techniques to meet the needs of each client. Therapy is a collaborative effort, and she enjoys guiding clients to identify their own strengths and inner resources. Naomi believes that you are the expert of your story and that you have many strengths that will assist you in overcoming things that challenge you. Taking the first step to seek a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. Naomi is here to support you in that process.
Naomi started her education at City College of New York and completed her Master's in Social Work at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio. Naomi has spent the last ten years as a therapist and Community Activist in the LGBTQ Community spending a significant amount of her career working with Trans youth. Naomi has multiple treatment approaches and extensive training in bereavement and grief, motivational interviewing, and extensive trauma work including movement, expressive arts, and mindfulness. Naomi believes people, families, and relationships are healed by empowering the client to hear, to listen, and to be heard.

What types of clients do you work with best?
Clients who are open to looking at the hard stuff and recognizing that being uncomfortable some time is the actual road to finding a way to be comfortable with who you are and who you want to be.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I really enjoy working with those struggling with who they are in the worlds it's amazing what finding clarity in the midst of storms can do to allow folks to create and bloom!
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
Breathe- so many challenges that seem like they are going to crash around us are managed so much better when we stop and breathe.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I wanted the joy and success of a private practice with an amazing support system around me.
What inspires you?
The magic of another day no matter what happened yesterday or last week or last year or twenty years ago a new day is another opportunity to make it better and maybe even get it right.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
I believe that therapy is a collaborative exercise best performed in the midst of a relationship. I need find out who you are and what matters to you. I need your successes and your challenges I need you to know you are safe to be authentic vulnerable and real that doesn't happen overnight, but it does start at the first visit.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
I am creative, eclectic, passionate and brave and that's before 7 am. I bring an amazing energy to a space and what color my hair is today always an adventure.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I love to travel and play I love Yoga, Pilates, Barre and dancing!!!!
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I am a Queer black woman of God perhaps the irony of all of those adjectives happily existing together defines me .
