About Monika
Welcome! I am Monika Parker, a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate and National Certified Counselor in Texas, who is currently being supervised by Adam Dueber LPC-S. I earned my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grand Canyon University. I invite Military & Veterans, military families, adolescents and adults.
My approach is collaborative and grounded in evidence-based practices such as CBT, DBT and a person centered approach. We will focus on building a strong therapeutic relationship where you feel safe, connected, and free to show up as your authentic self while creating space for reflection, healing, and growth.
I aim to champion holistic mental health and walk alongside individuals as they navigate their journey toward self-understanding and fulfillment. What drives my work is witnessing the transformation that happens when clients move from moments of vulnerability to a place of confidence, clarity, and empowerment.

"As a veteran, I offer a deeply personal understanding that helps me create a safe, supportive space, fostering connection and understanding."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I became a therapist to champion mental health and walk alongside individuals as they navigate their journey toward selfunderstanding and fulfillment.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I believe therapy works best when there’s a strong fit. I tend to connect well with clients who value collaboration, openness, and a willingness to try new perspectives.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
Mental health isn’t something we ‘fix’ once and for all—it’s an evolving process of healing, adapting, and sometimes unlearning along the way.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In the early stages of therapy, we’ll start to build a sense of safety and trust, explore patterns or concerns, and begin identifying goals. My approach is collaborative, so we’ll regularly check in about what feels helpful and adjust as needed.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
I’m deeply informed by my identities and life experiences, including being a first-born, first-generation college graduate, military veteran, and Black woman. These parts of me have shaped my values around perseverance, adaptability, and community. In my work, I strive to honor each client’s lived experience while creating a supportive space for growth, healing, and selfunderstanding.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I see therapy as a collaborative process. I work with you to identify your goals and preferences, and I adapt my approach based on what resonates with you. Whether that means focusing more on practical tools, deeper exploration, or a mix of both, we shape the process together.
