Get to know Meghan

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I've always been fascinated by the human mind and how people think and feel. I believe that counseling offers a unique opportunity to make a real difference in people's lives, and I'm excited to be a part of that.

What types of clients do you work with best?

I work best with clients that no matter how messy and hard life get's they show up. No one is unscathed by life.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

I am excited to work with all clients! I have a real appreciation for clients who not only show up but are open and willing/ready to put in the work.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

Therapy is a valuable tool for personal growth and managing challenges, but it’s not a “fix-it-all” solution and shouldn’t be expected to erase problems or guarantee a specific outcome.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

I chose Thriveworks for its flexibility not only for clients but clinicians. I believe in the importance of clinicians to have that and in turn as clinicians we are modeling this for our clients.

What inspires you?

YOU! My clients inspire me.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

Client’s can expect an authentic counselor who will show up and listen emphatically. Not just the first session but every session.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

I want to know what brought you to therapy and what YOU want to get out of therapy. I want to make sure you know how amazing YOU are just for showing up and taking the first step. I want to make sure you feel seen, heard, and valued.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?

First, thank you for taking the first step and seeking out therapy. If this is where our journey ends, I wish you well. However, if you wish you continue and schedule with me, I look forward to continuing on your journey alongside you.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

When I’m off work, I enjoy spending time with my 3 dogs, friends, and family. I love traveling the world and gaining new experiences and learning about different cultures.

What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

Outside of work I’m no different. I’m human just like the rest of you. I’m always looking to better myself and practice what I teach.
