About John
Maybe you're hitting up against some loneliness and isolation right now. Or maybe some old burdens are affecting your current life. Let's talk. I don't have any platitudes about positive thinking, but your story matters to me. The thing is, I really enjoy helping people cultivate resilience and self-compassion. Depression, anxiety, anger issues, porn addiction, and chronic pain are adversities that we humans grapple with. I've been doing this for a minute. I can say for sure that there is no cookie-cutter solution. It's more about connection. My focus is to create the space for someone to know they aren't alone in this.
My background in biofeedback and relaxation training is a common thread in my gentle, trauma-informed approach to mindfulness. We go with what resonates. Helping clients develop a Learned Relaxation Response unlocks the benefits of IFS, Narrative, EMDR, CBT, and Client-Centered therapies, to name a few. These paths can be informed by TED Talks and podcasts.
I love the metaphor of life being a winding path. Most of us have internal burdens we're carrying along the way. Unpacking and processing some of those with a supportive confidant, one who has earned your trust, can be immensely healing. I believe therapy can be a sacred space in the human journey. So if you wanna share the trail for a while, I'd be honored.

"I help people overcome Porn Addiction, Anxious Attachment, All types of Trauma, Anxiety Disorders, Burnout, Depression, Overwhelm, Grief, Loneliness/Isolation. A typical treatment plan would involve identification of relevant issues and development of an observational, regulated, and compassionate stance towards them to foster letting go of shame and fear driven response patterns."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
As a young adult I received compassionate care for my own family of origin issues. Deciding to become a therapist is always entwined with our own psychological journey. I want to pass that care along.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with clients who are seeking personal and spiritual growth so that they can show up for the people in their lives with the best version of themselves.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
The knowledge of psychological constructs and techniques are important. But they mean nothing without a human connection. A person has to feel heard and seen and cared for. Without that, all the degrees on the wall are useless.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
A relaxed conversation. I hope we find something to laugh about. I want to create a safe space to begin unpacking the things you've been carrying.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
Life lessons. Life unfolds in ways that illustrate the very concepts we will be talking about. I've had my own struggles with scared, reactive parts...I've learned that approaching that energy with compassion and care is a lot more successful than doing battle inside myself.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
Every story is unique. That's what invigorates me. The human journey is never one size fits all. If we establish connection and being seen. We are on the way to change and growth.
