Get to know Jailene

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I wanted to make a change in people's lives who felt there was no hope in getting better. I wanted to be that small change to help them thrive and learn to find what helps them and makes them happy.

What types of clients do you work with best?

I work best with younger clients due to my young age. I feel that I am able to better connect with them because I have lived through the ages they are currently struggling in and/or they feel safer with someone closer in age.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

I am most excited to work with young children and adolescents.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

I wish they all knew that life can get better if you are ready to seek help and be ready and open to change.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

I chose to practice at Thriveworks because it is like working in a private practice, but you get so much support to help you get started so you feel comfortable in what you are doing.

What inspires you?

The thing that inspires me most in life is seeing people smile and be happy. I aspire to be someone who can help people get to that feeling and learn how to on their own, so they never feel like life is not worth trying.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

They can expect me to listen fully and be open to whatever they say because that first session is for me to get all of the information I can about them. This will help me better understand them and learn who they are and what they need from me as a counselor.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

I want to accomplish a good rapport. I hope the client feels safe enough with me to speak freely, and then feels good enough about the first session to want to book a second session right then and there.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

I love volunteering at animal shelters, feeding homeless animals, singing, and painting.

What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

One thing that defines me in my personal life is how much love I give to others. I always try to uplift others and help them when they are struggling. I love them as much as I would want someone to care and love me.
