About Elizabeth
My name is Elizabeth Garibay and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with experience supporting individuals through life's challenges with compassion, collaboration, and evidence-based care. I work with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, relationship issues, trauma, self-esteem, life transitions, or feelings of overwhelm who are seeking greater clarity, emotional balance, healthier coping skills, and a deeper sense of fulfillment. My approach is warm, nonjudgmental, and tailored to each person's unique experiences and goals, helping clients build insight, resilience, and meaningful change.
I may incorporate CBT, mindfulness, solution-focused strategies, and trauma-informed care to help clients understand their thoughts, emotions, and patterns while building healthier coping skills and confidence. I strive to create a space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered.
Reaching out for support can feel like a big step, but you do not have to navigate life's challenges alone. I am committed to creating a space where you can feel understood, supported, and empowered as you work toward healing and growth. When you are ready, I welcome the opportunity to support you on your journey and encourage you to take that next step.

"I believe healing happens through authentic connection, and I bring compassion, curiosity, and real-life understanding into every session to help clients feel seen, supported, and empowered. "

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a counselor because I have always been passionate about helping people feel heard, supported, and empowered during difficult times in their lives. I believe that everyone deserves a safe space to process their experiences without judgment, and I value the opportunity to walk alongside clients as they build insight, resilience, and healthier ways of coping. Seeing people grow in confidence, heal from past challenges, and create meaningful change is what continues to inspire my work.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with adults who are seeking support for anxiety, stress, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, self-esteem concerns, and emotional overwhelm. Many of the clients I work with are motivated to better understand themselves, improve their coping skills, strengthen relationships, and create healthier patterns in their lives. I especially enjoy working with individuals who value a collaborative, supportive therapeutic relationship and are open to personal growth and meaningful change.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I wish all clients knew that healing is not about being “perfect” or having everything figured out — it is a process of learning, growing, and showing yourself compassion along the way. Therapy is not about judgment; it is a supportive space where you can be honest, explore your experiences safely, and build the tools and insight needed to create meaningful change at your own pace.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In the first session, clients can expect a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where we begin getting to know each other and discussing what brings them to therapy. We will explore current concerns, personal history, goals for treatment, and any challenges they may be facing, while also identifying strengths and supports already present in their lives. In the early stages of therapy, clients can expect us to work collaboratively to build trust, develop insight, and create practical strategies that support emotional well-being, coping, and meaningful progress at a pace that feels comfortable and manageable.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My practice is grounded in the belief that every person deserves to feel heard, respected, and supported regardless of their background or life experiences. I value authenticity, empathy, cultural sensitivity, and the importance of creating a safe space where clients can openly explore their thoughts and emotions without fear of judgment. My experiences working with individuals from diverse walks of life have strengthened my understanding of resilience, human connection, and the importance of meeting clients where they are while helping them move toward growth, healing, and balance.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor therapy by first getting to know each client’s unique story, strengths, goals, and challenges. From there, I collaborate with clients to identify what feels most helpful for them and adjust our work accordingly, whether that means focusing on skillbuilding, insight-oriented exploration, or presentmoment coping strategies. I draw from a range of evidence-based approaches and remain flexible throughout the process, ensuring that therapy reflects each person’s pace, values, and evolving needs so they feel supported in a way that is both meaningful and effective.
