About Crystal

I was a born talker! Long before I began college, I was known by those around me as the secret keeper. I received both a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Development and Family Studies and a Master of Education in Counseling with a focus on Community, from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. After college, I have worked with those affected by trauma, including children, adolescents, adults and the elderly. I have worked with child victims in foster care, those affected by domestic violence, those currently experiencing homelessness and those who have been diagnosed with one or more mental health disorders.

What I have learned is that we are who our experiences shape us to be. You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have the facts of life. Regardless of what has happened, we can move forward—we can take the path less traveled and achieve positive results. We can be exactly who we want to be—if we're willing to put in the work.

My hope is that our time together will bring out your truth. Life can get heavy. Love can become difficult. My intent is to create a healing space free of judgment. Your charge is to bring your authentic self. When these things combine, growth happens. I consider it a privilege to walk alongside you. Take the first step. Make an appointment today.

Get to know Crystal

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I was born an only child into a huge family. I grew up in what I thought was normal, but later, society taught me was not so I always fought for what I thought was right. I advocated for those who couldn’t, or wouldn’t, speak for themselves. When I was much younger, I always aspired to be an attorney. Somewhere in my late teen years, I decided to change career paths and become a therapist instead of an attorney (a different type of counselor).

What types of clients do you work best with?

Those who are open and honest, and can acknowledge their struggles. Clients who may not know the path but trust the journey.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?

It is hard, but rewarding.

What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?

I ask questions for understanding but I let the client guide the initial sessions for their own comfort level.

What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?

I am the youngest grandchild and learned my most valuable lessons at my Grandmother’s home, whom I lived with during my teenage years. Family is most important to me.

How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?

Therapy is not cookie cutter but a suit tailor made to fit each individual based on his/her needs and what’s most important to and for him/her.
