About Chioma
I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with 7 years of experience helping individuals and couples navigate depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, and major life transitions. I work with clients who are seeking emotional resilience, balance, and greater self-awareness. My goal is to create a safe, culturally sensitive space where healing, growth, and confidence can flourish through compassion, creativity, and evidence-based care.
I earned my master’s in clinical mental health counseling from Lamar University. I integrate cognitive behavioral therapy, experiential techniques, and creative expression to help clients understand emotions, challenge unhelpful patterns, and build practical coping skills. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and empowering.
I believe healing is not about perfection but about progress and self-compassion. Together, we’ll create a safe space to explore, heal, and rediscover peace and purpose. When you’re ready, I’d be honored to walk alongside you on your journey toward growth and emotional well-being.

"As a Black woman and trauma-informed therapist, I create a space where authenticity, cultural identity, and emotional healing can coexist, helping clients rewrite their stories with compassion, awareness, and renewed strength."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I became a counselor because I’m passionate about creating safe, affirming spaces where people, especially minorities feel truly seen and supported. Representation matters, and I wanted to offer the kind of understanding and culturally sensitive care I didn’t always see growing up. My goal is to help clients heal, grow, and feel empowered to embrace their authentic selves.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with teens, adults, and couples who are ready to explore their emotions, challenge old patterns, and commit to personal growth. My ideal clients are those navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, or life transitions and who value a warm, culturally responsive, and collaborative therapeutic space.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I wish all clients knew that healing isn’t linear—it’s a journey of progress, self-discovery, and grace. Growth takes time, and even small steps forward matter. Therapy isn’t about fixing what’s “wrong” with you, but about understanding yourself more deeply and learning new ways to care for your mind, body, and spirit.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In our first session, clients can expect a warm, judgment-free space where we’ll discuss your goals, explore what brings you to therapy, and begin building trust. Early sessions focus on understanding your story, identifying patterns, and creating a personalized plan to help you feel grounded, supported, and empowered in your healing journey.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My practice is deeply informed by my values of empathy, authenticity, and cultural awareness. As a Black woman and mental health advocate, I understand the importance of representation and creating safe spaces where people can show up as their full selves. My own experiences with growth and resilience fuel my belief that healing happens through compassion, connection, and self-discovery.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor therapy by meeting each client exactly where they are and adapting my approach to their personality, goals, and lived experiences. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, experiential techniques, and creative tools to match each client’s strengths and needs, ensuring therapy feels collaborative, culturally sensitive, and truly personalized.
