About Cheryl
Cheryl Clansy is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S), trained Mediator, and Life Coach with 20 years of experience in the mental health field. Cheryl is passionate about helping adolescents, adults, and couples address their unique challenges, resolve conflicts, and live more fulfilled lives. She specializes in anxiety, grief, relationship issues, school issues, and major life transitions.
Cheryl completed her doctoral degree at Grambling State University. She has professional experience in public education, postsecondary education, and the nonprofit sector. This, coupled with her preparation as a mediator and life coach enables her to provide the guidance and support her clients are seeking. Cheryl uses multiple treatment approaches including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and solution-focused therapy.

Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I became a counselor because I enjoy helping others work toward successful outcomes.

I work best with youth and adults who are experiencing adjustments in life.

I am most excited to work with clients who are honest, willing to explore different perspectives, and willing to work.

I wish all clients knew that success begins with the courage to take the first step.

What inspires you?
I am inspired when I see clients demonstrate habits that lead to self-regulation and positive results.

During the first session, clients can expect to share, as they are comfortable, why they are seeking therapy.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
During the first session, I want to begin to establish rapport and gain an understanding of what the client may be experiencing.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
Watch or attend professional sporting events.
