Get to know Cassandra

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I had been a Registered Nurse/ Case manager for many years and was doing a significant amount of counseling as a part of my roll in serving clients. I decided to become a therapist to more educated and knowledgeable professionally and my interest gres from there. The overall goal was to better serve my clients in a more holistic manner. The Private Practice evolved later after I retired from Nursing at the end of 2020 as the result of COVID issues related to how the industry was changing. The absolute best decision I could have made.

What types of clients do you work with best?

The best clients for me to work with are those have are having difficulty dealing with the vicissitudes of life related to stress, anxiety, depression or other emotional concerns. Whether these are acute, intermittent, or chronic struggles, I seek to help them identity these life challenges and get to a more balanced and emotional place.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

Again, I am more interested working with client are wanting to process and work through various types of life challenges.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

I wish all clients knew that if they are willing to do the work, no matter what the issues are, significant healing, resolution, or restoration is possible.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

Thriveworks is a very popular counseling platform and also I was referred to by a long-term family friend who is also a Therapist on the Thriveworks platform.

What inspires you?

I am inspired by the desire to help individuals be more healthy overall. This has always been my inspiration. Whether it is as a RN or Therapist. I desire to see individuals be as well as they can possibly be.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

The session is an intake assessment intermingled with getting to know more about why the client is seeking therapy. It is used to acquaint the client with the platform protocols and expectations and also to answer any questions they may have.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

I would like to build a comfort with the client so they feel safe to open up and answer questions they may have. I them to feel that they are valuable and will be treated with respect.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?

They can generally see my credentials and background on the site. However, most importantly, that they will be treated with respect and dignity. That I am committed to work with and helping them achieve their counseling goals.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

I love to relax and unwind by reading and listening to audiobooks, watching calming movies and shows, sitting by the water, and attending many social events. I love spending time with friends and eating some really good food.
