About Caroline
I'm Carrie, and I'm a licensed professional counselor. I graduated from Lamar University in August 2024 with a master's degree in counseling and development, and I earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Houston–Downtown in 2012 with a major in psychology and a minor in sociology. I have worked in the field for about 14 years. I am a boy mom and cat lover—I have four sons (two of my own and two bonus) and a husband who keeps me on my toes. I work with clients of all ages and various concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, parenting, and more.
Different experiences throughout my life have led me to want to help others. Above all, being the daughter of a beloved father who struggled with addiction, dealing with trauma, and the intense grief from his passing have been the major driving forces of my motivation. I have an integrative approach to counseling and hope to grow with you at Thriveworks, offering a safe space to work toward your goals while guiding and empowering you.
My goal is to offer a safe, warm, nonjudgmental space for you to share, grow, and feel encouraged. I hope you will take the next step by scheduling an appointment today. You've got this—I can't wait to connect!

"As a mother, daughter, and friend who has experienced personal trauma and loss, I have a genuine understanding of how we are impacted by painful life circumstances and how building of new life skills can empower us once again. "

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I've always known that I enjoy helping others and have deep conversations. I became interested in psychology in college, after taking a general psychology course and loved it. After graduating with a degree in psychology and working in the field for several years, I lost my dad. To honor him, I decided to go back to school for a master's degree in counseling. He was my motivation as I worked to get here today. Helping others feel seen and encouraged means so much to me and I know that my dad would be proud.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I enjoy working with clients of all ages and from all different walks of life. However, I do have a special place in my heart for teenagers.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
All clients should know that counseling can be beneficial to anyone. It doesn't mean anything is wrong with you. We all need help sometimes! Healing takes time and work, but you can do it!
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In the first session and early stages of therapy, you can expect us to build rapport and trust by getting to know each other and your needs. We can set goals with actionable steps.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My own grief, loss, relationships, and life experiences have shaped my values. Compassion, understanding, and unconditional positive regard for my clients inform my practice as a therapist.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor therapy to meet each client's unique needs by recognizing what those needs are, validating and normalizing them, and offering techniques that fit well.
