Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I became a therapist because I felt God has called me to help people when they are in their greatest need, helping them to find hope, purpose, and renewed strength through their greatest struggles.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I well with all clients, but find great connections in helping men struggling with sex and porn addiction and women struggling with betrayal trauma from infidelity. I also work well with couples facing relationship turmoil.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I love working with couples and those suffering with trauma and addiction. I love to educate my clients so that they better understand their own mental health and behavioral patterns, giving them the tools they need to build their own resilience and self-efficacy.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients knew the power of belief and how our experiences can create immense impact on how we orient ourselves in our own lives, both implicitly and explicitly.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I choose to practice at Thriveworks because it affords me the opportunity to reach others through more online means, providing counseling in a way that can reach a wider population and provide me with more personal flexibility.
What inspires you?
Seeing the healing that God creates in people's life is extremely inspiring. Progress is a process, and seeing growth, no matter how small, brings me joy and purpose in my therapy sessions.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients should expect a warm, non-judgmental environment seeking to accommodate their needs. Whether it is a place to be listen to or a place to receive education and practical guidance, my counseling room seeks to match my client's needs.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want to be able to lay out clear goals to work towards and instill my client with a sense of hope and purpose in being able to move forward in their journey.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
My therapy orientation includes research based modalities backed by Biblical and Scriptural foundations. While I can and have worked with people of many different faiths and backgrounds, I purpose myself in underlying the modalities that I use with Scriptural truth in order to attend to body, mind, and spirit.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I am a big family man and a huge nerd. I love spending time with my wife and 3 wonderful sons. I also love playing video games of all types and playing an assortment of tabletop games with friends. I also love to hunt and be outdoors whenever life permits.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I pride myself on my warmth and genuineness. I strive for authenticity and compassion in all areas of life, fostering deep and meaningful relationships with friends and family.
