Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I have a passion to help others in their low times, feelings of defeat, and lifting them up emotionally. Seeing others succeed in their goals and watching them progress in their therapeutic process really gives me joy.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I enjoy working with 20/30s with life changes and existential issues and guiding them to figure out purpose. I enjoy working with adolescence and giving them the ability to feel heard and understood.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
Excitment for therapy is insidious and when a client becomes excited over their progress. It is also exciting to work through the problems a person brings in and watching the progress that we make.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
Therapy and change can be hard. It takes effort. And it takes time.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
The open network that creates a much easier and accessible therapy to those in need.
What inspires you?
I'm inspired by knowing that individuals are not as "bad" as they believe themselves to be and seeing beyond the circumstance, problem, or issue of the person.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
A discussion to just understand the person coming into the office and the problems or issues that are motivating them to want change to happen.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
Most important, the person to leave feeling heard and looking forward for the next session. The person can be confident that there will be a creation of goals and building a treatment plan producing almost like a compass for future sessions.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
I speak in analogies and metophors...a lot. I'm a very visual kind of person. So many of my thoughts and processing end up getting expressed in this manner.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I'm really into the retro gaming scene. Between having adventures with my family and taking care of our 3 cats and 2 dogs time is gone.
