About Brenda
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with 7 years of experience serving individuals and families across Texas. I specialize in providing bilingual services in English and Spanish, offering a culturally responsive approach that values family, community, and personal identity. I have worked in community mental health, inpatient, and outpatient settings, helping clients navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions with compassion and professionalism.
I earned my Master’s in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. I also hold a Bachelor’s in Rehabilitative Services. My background in rehabilitation and counseling allows me to integrate empathy, structure, and strength-based strategies to support each client’s growth and healing journey.
In our sessions, you can expect empathy, respect, and collaboration as we work together toward positive change. My goal is to create a safe space where you feel heard, validated, and supported while building resilience and confidence to live a more balanced and fulfilling life.

"I’m passionate about supporting individuals and families in my community, drawing on my experience with trauma and perinatal mental health to create a compassionate, empowering space for healing and growth."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I became a counselor to empower my community and help individuals cultivate self-awareness and compassion.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with clients who are ready to explore their emotions, navigate life transitions, and heal from experiences of trauma, particularly those adjusting to parenthood or seeking support around perinatal mental health and family-related challenges. I enjoy working with clients eager to learn and work as a team to accomplish their goals.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I wish all clients knew that healing is not a linear process. Progress takes time, patience, and self-compassion, and every step forward, no matter how small, is a meaningful part of growth.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In the first session and early stages of therapy, clients can expect a warm, collaborative environment where we discuss their goals, explore what brings them to therapy, and begin building trust. I focus on understanding their story, identifying patterns impacting their well-being, and developing a plan that feels both supportive and achievable.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My practice is deeply informed by my experiences with family, culture, parenthood, loss, and the postpartum journey, which have shaped my empathy and commitment to providing a compassionate, culturally attuned space where clients feel supported and empowered to heal.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor therapy to each client’s unique needs by taking a collaborative, individualized approach, assessing their goals, background, and strengths, then integrating evidence-based techniques that align with their personality, cultural context, and pace of healing.
