Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a counselor after having my own struggles as a teenager with no professional support. I witnessed many friends struggle silently and struggle to become functional adults, be it because of their parents or own mental health. I want to be the person to advocate for those who cannot advocate for themselves and help them to overcome the things they struggle with silently.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with clients who already have some form of self-awareness and who are open to new perspectives, ideas, and opinions. When they are minors, I work best with clients whose parents are also open to new perspectives, ideas, and suggestions.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I'm most excited to work with clients who are motivated to make sustainable changes.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
The one thing I wish all clients knew is that I'm not always psychoanalyzing and sometimes the most therapeutic thing is a conversation.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I chose to practice with Thriveworks because they value accessible, quality therapy for clients while also valuing their employees.
What inspires you?
Comradery and seeing people work together toward a common goal is what inspires me.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect an honest discussion on limitations to therapy and confidentiality and discussion on values and needs.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
In the first session, I would like to accomplish establishing the therapeutic connection and identifying initial goals for therapy.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
Before scheduling a first session, clients and parents should know:
1. I do not tell parents what their children tell me in therapy unless there is a concern of safety;
2. I do not choose sides, I evaluate and assist parties to communicate their perspectives;
3. You get out of it what you put into it and it will take time. Therapy is not a quick fix but it can help if you let it.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
On my time off, I enjoy spending quality time with my husband, playing with my fur-babies, and practicing photography.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
One thing about myself I would say defines me is the positive energy I bring to a space.
