Why did you decide to become a counselor?
It was not my plan to become a counselor; my Bachelor's is in Organizational Leadership, and my goal was to take that into the business world. Long story short, through an unexpected God-ordained encounter with someone, it became clear that Counseling was what I was called to do. So, I packed up my little compact car and moved from St. Paul, MN, to Dallas, TX, for graduate school in pursuit of my Master's in Counseling, and from there went on to become a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas. While becoming a therapist wasn't my plan, it was always my calling, and I love it!
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I work best with clients in their late teens, young adults, and adults who have at least some motivation to make positive changes in their life, even if they don't know where to begin or can improve their self-awareness. Willingness is all it takes to change one's life.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients knew that as long as they have breath in their lungs, they have an opportunity and the capacity for growth and change should that be what they choose.
