Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?

I decided to become a counselor/psychiatric provider because I have a deep passion for helping others, and I firmly believe in the benefits and effectiveness of mental health care. Throughout my career, I faced challenges finding qualified therapists who were both willing and competent to work with individuals with intellectual disabilities. This experience motivated me to become someone who could fill that gap. I wanted to ensure that people with intellectual disabilities have access to the support they deserve from someone who understands their unique needs. By becoming a counselor/psychiatric provider, I am able to offer specialized care that can make a real difference in their lives.

What types of clients do you work with best?

I work best with clients who are truly invested in creating something for themselves. I prefer those who are willing to dedicate the time, follow the treatment process, and take a chance on themselves. I also work best with children who have a strong network of support and are committed to helping them become mentally healthy while working to create stable environments."

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

I’m particularly excited to work with mental health clients who are dedicated to improving their well-being and fostering positive change in their lives. It’s incredibly fulfilling to support individuals in creating safe, empathetic, and empowering environments where people can feel heard and understood. Whether it's providing resources, developing strategies, or simply offering guidance, I’m passionate about helping clients navigate mental health challenges with compassion and a focus on long-term healing.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

One thing I wish all clients knew is that therapy is a process, not a quick fix. Progress may take time, and it's normal to face setbacks or difficult emotions along the way. It's important to be patient with yourself and trust that the work you're doing, even when it feels slow, is valuable and will lead to growth. You are not alone in this journey, and the effort you put into understanding yourself will pay off in the long run

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

I chose to practice at Thriveworks because of their commitment to providing high-quality care with a strong focus on professionalism and attentiveness. Thriveworks Behavioral Health organization stands out for its comprehensive approach to mental health, offering a wide range of services and a supportive environment for both clients and professionals. Their dedication to fostering personal growth and well-being aligns with my own values as a practitioner, making it an ideal place to help individuals achieve their goals and improve their mental health.

What inspires you?

What inspires me is the powerful combination of commitment, change, hard work, resilience, and trust. Commitment fuels my determination, pushing me to stay focused even when the journey gets tough. Change inspires me to embrace growth, reminding me that progress is born from transformation. Hard work motivates me to keep moving forward, knowing that success is the result of persistence and effort. Resilience teaches me that setbacks are just opportunities to rise stronger, and above all, trust in myself forms the foundation that helps me believe I can overcome any challenge. These forces come together to create a continuous cycle of inspiration, driving me toward achieving my goals

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

In the first session, clients can expect to review the scope of our work together, discuss their goals, and set clear expectations for our sessions. This is an opportunity for me to listen to their concerns, hear what they expect from me, and share what I expect in return. We'll begin to build a strong therapeutic relationship based on trust and openness. During this time, I'll also start to assess any signs and symptoms of the challenges they are facing, while fostering a safe and supportive environment for them to share. This collaborative approach helps us establish a foundation for effective therapy and mutual understanding.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

In the first session, my goal is to establish a connection and begin building trust. I want to create a safe and comfortable space where the individual feels heard and understood. It's important to explore what brought them to therapy and understand their unique needs and concerns. Additionally, I aim to learn why they selected Thriveworks and what they hope to achieve through therapy, so we can work together to set meaningful goals.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?

Before scheduling a first session with me, clients should know that I’m here to provide a supportive, engaging, and insightful experience. I can assist with a variety of needs, from brainstorming ideas and answering questions to offering guidance in writing, coding, or personal development. My goal is to create a collaborative, judgment-free environment where I can adapt to your preferences and help you achieve your goals

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

In my free time, I enjoy a variety of activities that allow me to explore my passions and give back to the community. I love to travel, read, and continuously learn. I also have a deep appreciation for the performing arts; I sing in multiple choirs and perform with a local theater group. In addition, I serve as an advisor for the Beaufort County Youth Group, am a member of the Diversity Coalition Board, and participate in the Extra Mile Club of the Lowcountry's Mentor Program. These roles allow me to stay connected with my community and offer support to others, all while fostering my own growth as a licensed professional counselor.

What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

These activities and my passion for them define me as someone who is deeply committed to personal growth, creativity, and making a positive impact on the world around me. My love for travel, reading, and continuous learning reflects my curiosity and desire to constantly expand my horizons. Through my involvement in the performing arts, whether singing in choirs or performing with a theater group, I express myself creatively and connect with others through shared experiences.
