Shynekia Garner is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of South Carolina with nearly 10 years of experience working with children, teens, adults, and families who are struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship, medical, and substance abuse issues.
She completed her Bachelor's degree in Political Science with a minor in English from the University of South Carolina Upstate and received her Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Converse College. Shynekia takes a client-centered approach incorporating solution-focused techniques (SFT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), medical family therapy (MFT), mindfulness-based approaches, and emotionally-focused therapy (EFT).
The ability to adapt to meet the needs of every client provides the freedom and creativity desperately needed to foster healing in a safe environment. Shynekia takes pride in forming a pure and authentic therapeutic alliance with each of her clients and is known to most by her nickname, ‘Shy’. The client is the driver and Shy is simply the passenger helping to guide each along the way in a collaborative and meaningful exchange.

"As a human first and therapist second, I know we all go through hard times in life, but how we choose to act in these moments makes all the difference."
