About Renee
I am a licensed master social worker (LMSW) with 2 years of experience providing compassionate, client-centered care. I enjoy working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, families, and older adults as they navigate life challenges. Many of the clients I support experience anxiety, self-doubt, shame, and codependent patterns, often influenced by difficult or narcissistic relationships, and are seeking healthier coping skills to manage life stressors.
I earned my master’s degree in social work from the University of South Carolina. My therapeutic approach is trauma-informed and integrates cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused therapy to help clients break unhealthy patterns, strengthen emotional resilience, and reconnect with their sense of self-worth.
I provide a safe, supportive space where experiences are honored and your voice is truly heard. For clients who value spirituality, I offer the option to incorporate Christian principles into therapy. I welcome clients of all gender identities, sexual orientations, and cultural backgrounds, and I am here to support you on your path toward healing and growth.

"As a mature woman of color who has experienced childhood sexual trauma, homelessness, and domestic violence, I have an authentic understanding of how we are impacted by painful life circumstances and how building new life skills can be empowering."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a clinical social worker because of the Julie Valentine Center (JVC). When I decided to reach out for help, JVC, my clinical social worker, and my JVC tribe helped transform me from ashes into a beautiful phoenix.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with clients of all ages because I understand doubt, insecurities, and fears at all stages of development, recognized by my lived experiences of adversities.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
Untreated soul wounds fester into infections that are difficult to treat, which causes our personalities to become warped; however, treated with proper therapy, wounds can begin to heal through safe spaces to process trauma, by learning coping skills, which can build resilience that results in gaining self-worth.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In the first session, clients can expect to build trust by establishing a collaborative relationship with me within a safe, non-judgmental space. I believe the first goal is to build rapport with my client so that the person feels valued and heard. Without this, the client will lose their trust in me as their therapist.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
What shapes my personal experiences as a therapist are cultural awareness, autonomy, empathy, compassion, and the client's ability to recognize their own empowerment.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor therapy to meet each client's unique needs through assessments, understanding of the clients unique challenges, strengths, and goals.
