About Laura
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC/S) in South Carolina and a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina with experience working in community mental health, residential treatment, and private practice. I work with older teens and adults navigating PTSD, bipolar disorder, anxiety, depression, identity exploration, life transitions, relationship challenges, and the impact of systemic stressors.
My clinical approach is grounded in person-centered care, enhanced by EMDR and somatic interventions for mind-body healing. I view clients as experts of their own lives and work collaboratively toward their goals. I specialize in trauma-informed, LGBTQIA+ affirming, and neurodiversity-affirming care, prioritizing safety, authenticity, and trust.
It takes strength to seek support, and I respect that deeply. You do not have to navigate life's challenges alone, and when ready, I welcome the opportunity to begin that work together.

"As a queer, neurodivergent person myself, I am passionate about creating a warm, affirming space where people can feel genuinely understood, heal from trauma, and embrace their authentic selves. "

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?v
I became a counselor after realizing that, in many of my previous professional roles, I was limited in the support I could provide to others. Transitioning into counseling has been the most rewarding step in my career, giving me the privilege of partnering with people as they discover their strengths, navigate challenges, and achieve the goals that matter most to them.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
One thing I wish all clients knew is that seeking therapy does not mean there is something wrong with you. Therapy is a space for growth, self-discovery, and healing, not just a place to address challenges. It offers the opportunity to better understand yourself, build on your strengths, and develop the tools needed to navigate life more effectively. Healing is rarely a linear process, and meaningful change often happens through small, consistent steps. Wherever you are in your journey, therapy can provide a supportive space to help you move toward the life you want to create.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In our first session, you can expect a warm, supportive, and judgment-free space where we begin getting to know one another. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, explore your goals, and address any questions or concerns you may have about the process. My approach is collaborative, and we’ll work together to identify what feels most important to you and what you hope to get out of our time together.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor therapy by really getting to know each client as a whole person, not just a set of concerns or symptoms. Together, we explore what feels most important to you and adjust our work based on your goals, your pace, and what feels most helpful in session. I also draw from different therapeutic approaches so that our work fits you, rather than expecting you to fit a specific method.
