About Kayla
I am a licensed master social worker (LMSW) with 4 years of experience providing therapy to adults, adolescents, and families. I support clients navigating anxiety, stress, life transitions, anger management, domestic violence, and family challenges. My work focuses on helping individuals build coping skills, strengthen relationships, and achieve meaningful personal growth.
I hold a master’s degree in social work from the University of South Carolina. My approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and culturally responsive, incorporating trauma-informed care, psychoeducation, and practical skill-building to support emotional regulation, healthy communication, and long-term progress.
I strive to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard and understood. Together, we work toward healing, growth, and practical tools to manage life’s challenges. I invite you to take the next step and schedule a session when you are ready.

"As someone who navigates the complexities of life and social systems related to race, gender, mental health, and overall identity, I understand how these factors shape mental health, and I approach therapy with empathy, cultural awareness, and a commitment to helping clients feel genuinely seen and supported."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a mental health clinician because I am passionate about supporting individuals across the lifespan during vulnerable and transitional periods of life. I am especially motivated to help adults, as well as children and adolescents, build insight, emotional awareness, and effective coping skills to manage anxiety, stress, and life challenges. I value creating a supportive, collaborative space where clients feel understood and empowered to make meaningful and lasting change.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with adults who are experiencing anxiety, stress, emotional regulation difficulties, or challenges related to relationships, family dynamics, work, or life transitions. I also have experience working with adolescents and children who struggle with worry, emotional expression, or adjustment related concerns, and I collaborate with caregivers when appropriate. I am especially effective with clients who appreciate structure, psychoeducation, and practical, skills based approaches.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
I wish all clients knew that therapy is not about being “fixed” or having everything figured out. Healing is a gradual and non linear process that involves self understanding, practice, and patience. Progress often shows up as increased awareness, improved coping, or feeling more confident in managing emotions, and those changes take time.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
In the first session, clients can expect a welcoming, supportive, and non judgmental environment focused on building rapport and understanding their concerns. I take time to learn about the client’s history, goals, and current stressors, while also explaining the therapy process clearly. In the early stages of therapy, we focus on establishing trust, providing relevant psychoeducation, identifying goals, and beginning to build coping strategies at a pace that feels comfortable and collaborative
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My approach is informed by my own experiences of navigating periods where feeling heard, supported, and understood made a meaningful difference. I have seen firsthand how overwhelming stress and uncertainty can feel when there is not space to openly process thoughts and emotions, and how powerful it can be when someone takes the time to listen without judgment. These experiences shaped my belief in the importance of empathy, collaboration, and meeting clients where they are. They guide me to create a therapeutic environment that feels safe, validating, and individualized, where clients can build insight and confidence at their own pace.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
I tailor therapy by considering each client’s age, developmental stage, strengths, cultural background, and personal goals. With adults, I often integrate insight-oriented work, psychoeducation, and practical coping strategies. I regularly collaborate with clients, monitor progress, and adjust interventions to ensure therapy remains relevant, effective, and aligned with their needs.
