Why did you decide to become a counselor?
Frist, I must begin by telling you that I pride myself in honesty and integrity. With that said, I decided to become a counselor so that I could learn to heal myself. I have experienced many challenges during childhood and into adolescence, teen, and young adult years. I understood early on that attachment style would be a dominant factor in my ability to choose and maintain healthy relationships with others. I figured if I had those struggles then, perhaps, maybe other people would face similar issues as well. I first heal me, and the freedom that I experience allowed me to be intentional about helping others feel the same.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with clients who are open to trying new things. Clients who come to their sessions ready and willing to gain a new perspective or to be challenged therapeutically. I work well with clients who are experiencing depression, anxiety, some trauma, difficulty making decisions, and or who have relationship difficulties.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am most excited to work with clients who want change. Clients that can and will find their way with support and guidance. I am most excited to work with you.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients knew that they possess the power within to heal, grow, change, and live their best life.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I choose to practice at Thriveworks to be among a team of dedicated professionals. A team that cares about the client and wants to see the clients achieve the goals that they set.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by kindness and generosity. I love to see others win and when a client improves or embodies the change they wished to see my heart is filled with gladness.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect to be heard and to feel empowered. Clients can also expect a nonjudgmental brave space where they can openly talk about and discuss their concerns and challenges.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
In the first session, I hope to instill hope and empowerment. I want each client to feel better than they did before the session began.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
Clients should know that I am not the average counselor. I'm very non-traditional in my teaching, guiding, and support of each client. I will laugh when you laugh, and demonstrate complete empathy when you cry. All are welcome to a session with me.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
For fun, I like to visit the beach. Isle of Palms and Folly are my favorites. I love spending time with my family, my toddler is learning and showing me new things every day. I love reading and learning new things. I enjoy a night out and a quiet evening in. The water is my solace.
What’s one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
My spirituality is my nurturing space. I enjoy being with others who are positive and uplifting. Nature is often where you will find me on my day off or when I have downtime. There is something very healing about the sun, trees, and the ocean.
