About Ashley
I am a licensed independent social worker (LISW) who provides evidence-based therapy to those in need. I am certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy, which is an excellent therapy for post-traumatic stress (PTSD). After retiring from the military and helping veterans readjust to civilian life, I went back to school for my master's in social work. While pursuing my education, I came out as transgender. This was difficult, but support was key. My primary focus is working with trauma, depression, anxiety, sexual orientation, and gender identity, and helping clients overcome the emotions that finding their true self can cause.
By offering Cognitive Processing Therapy, I can help clients work through the various stuck points that make it difficult to process trauma. Trauma can distort our perception of events, and when we work together to identify the distortions, we can begin to heal. As a combat veteran, my lived experience helps me relate to those who suffer with PTSD.
"Self-care is not selfish"—Eleanor Brown. My philosophy is that we deserve to treat ourselves as good, if not better, than anyone else. This benefits us the most and gives those around us the best version of us. If you're ready to work with me as a team, schedule an appointment and let's tackle this together!

"As a transgender military veteran, I understand the unique challenges faced by both of these communities, and the challenges faced by intersecting identities. "

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a Clinical Social Worker to provide the support and help that I received. Lived experience is equally important as what you can learn in a book.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with clients who need a therapist who can listen without judgment and who will not give up.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
That this is teamwork. We work on this together so that eventually you don't need your therapist.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
Our first session will be getting to know each other and getting to know what your expectations are as a client.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
Honesty and integrity are the key values that define my practice. If we cannot trust each other, we cannot build that therapeutic relationship that will guide us as we work together.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
After meeting and assessing the concerns, I can better understand how to individualize a treatment plan.
