About Tanner
I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) with 7 years of experience supporting individuals through personal, emotional, and life-transition challenges. I work with clients navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism spectrum concerns, and adjustment to life-altering medical diagnoses or transplants. My background includes work in enhanced outpatient settings and individual therapy, treating a wide range of diagnoses and clinical presentations. I believe therapy is a collaborative journey, and I strive to create a supportive space where clients feel understood, empowered, and guided toward meaningful change.
I earned my master’s in clinical mental health counseling from California University of Pennsylvania. My approach is client-centered and tailored to each individual’s unique needs, strengths, and goals.
Taking the first step toward therapy and inviting someone into your personal thoughts and experiences can feel overwhelming. I understand how important it is to find a therapist who feels like the right fit. If you are seeking compassionate guidance and a collaborative therapeutic relationship, I would be honored to support you on your journey forward.

"As someone who has struggled with my own mental health, my approach is always to meet everyone exactly where they are to serve as their GPS to help guide them along on their own personal journey."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I never intended to be a therapist when I first started college. I was going for architectural engineering, until my first summer off from school I took a job working as a camp counselor since I always loved camping and being outdoors when I was a kid. I was one of the two male counselors for this camping program that ran all summer that focused on kids with mental health and behavioral issues. I was very skeptical at first, especially since we had teenagers very early into the summer, but despite the craziness that occurred over those weeks several kids came crying to me saying they didn't want to leave. What convinced me that I was having an impact on some of these kids lives, was one kid who confessed he never felt loved until he met me. I changed my major to go into counseling the second day back at school that fall.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I feel I connect well with most clients, even if it takes us a while to get comfortable with each other. My number one goal to start off every therapeutic relationship is to take the feeling of anxiety, dread, or fear out of it and genuinely just get to know you as a person. Therapy should feel less like a doctor's appointment and more like genuine human connection.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew about therapy, mental health, or the healing process?
It is entirely up to the client to experience what they want to get out of therapy. My role is to serve as an unbiased observer of the situation and present you with options and ideas to progress on your individual goals.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
I always ensure to go over the basics of how the therapeutic process transpire and detail what goals you feel are appropriate for your progress. As we begin to explore your individual journey we will likely spend some time getting to know each other as well to bolster the therapeutic relationship.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
Every client is at a different stage in their journey. No matter what stage we are at, I plan to meet you exactly there and start with the next baby step we can take to take one more step further to accomplishing what your want out of this process.
