Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
The reason I decided to be a counselor was because I saw the inequality in the mental health system and wanted to help people regardless of their race, sex, color, religion, disability, national origin or familial status receive the necessary help needed. I had to be the change I wanted to see in the world.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with clients who are ready to change their lives for the better, not forced into services..
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am most excited to work with clients who think therapy doesn't work. It gives me great joy when they try it and I finally get their buy in after seeing some changes in their lives.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I want all clients to know I am here to help them and that what they say to me is kept confidential unless they become a harm to themselves or others.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I met an employee named Constance and I enjoyed what she stated about the company. I especially liked how they care about their employees and clients.
What inspires you?
My father may he rest in peace inspires me. I saw how he was always helping others and the impact he had on many lives. It made me want to follow in his footsteps and to continue helping others improve their lives.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients should expect to get to learn about me as I learn about them.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want clients to feel comfortable and safe.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
I sometimes work non-traditional hours so I can ensure everyone has access to care.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I like to travel when I am off. I will fly or take a good road trip with family or friends.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I believe that even in a negative situation there is still a lesson to be learned.
