About Rachel
Rachel Sims is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Pennsylvania with experience working alongside people to better manage mental health struggles, change unhealthy behaviors, improve relationships and live present and connected lives. Rachel has experience working with adults and adolescents struggling with substance abuse, depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship issues.
Rachel completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Addictions Counseling and Masters of Arts Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Indiana Wesleyan University. She utilizes mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical-behavioral therapy, and interpersonal therapy to help people better manage strong emotions, identify and change negative thought patterns, live more fully in the present moment, and improve connections and relationships in order to decrease life difficulties and mental health issues.
Rachel is able to offer a warm and nonjudgemental space for you to process, be heard and supported, deepen insight, gain coping skills, utilize strengths, challenge unhelpful thoughts, improve relationships, set goals, and live a fulfilling and meaningful life. Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I truly enjoy being a part of peoples' journeys to understanding themselves better and helping them reach their goals. I feel privileged to be a part of it.
What types of clients do you work with best?
Adults and couples.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
That getting started and taking the first step to get help is often the scariest part. It will get much easier from here!

What inspires you?
Vulnerability and growth inspire me. Along with beauty in the everyday moments.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
A friendly welcome, going over expectations and consents, and discussing how you've been and the goals you have for counseling.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
Establishing the safety and confidentiality in therapy is a definite! Also, understanding the goals of my client.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
Spend time with friends and family, watch TV and movies, bake, go on walks, read poetry and do yoga!

Being on a quest to find beauty in the small things.
