Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I decided to become a counselor because I have a passion to help people. I knew that I wanted to spend the day helping people become better versions of themselves.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with clients who are motivated to change, and ready to open themselves up to a therapist.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am most excited to work with clients who are motivated for therapy, and ready for change. I appreciate clients who come into therapy ready to address tough issues, and to work towards processing all the complicated feelings that come with those issues.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients knew that therapy is nothing to be ashamed of. Although the stigma of therapy has improved, people still appears to be apprehensive about therapy. It is nothing to be ashamed of, but simply a tool to help a client live a better and more fulfilled life.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I chose to work at Thriveworks because of the reputation of the company, and all the wonderful things I have heard about the company.
What inspires you?
There are number of things that inspires me. I am inspired by the ability to see clients become a healthier version of themselves. I am also inspired by the work ethic instilled in me by my parents, and the desire to help others in a counseling setting.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
For the first session, I want clients to expect a very relaxed session. Although I am assessing what a client wants to work on in therapy, I am also getting to know the client on a personal level. I enjoy knowing little details about a client's life, in order build a good relationship.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
Within the first session, I want to assess what a client would like to work on in therapy, and how often they are wanting to come to sessions. I want to also assess if a client's is experiencing any impairments in their daily life, and their motivation for treatment. I also want to begin building a strong therapeutic relationship with my client during the first session.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
Before scheduling a first session, I want clients to know that I am not a judge nor a Jury. I am not here to judge, but to help. I want our first session to feel like getting a cup of coffee with a friend, not an event that will be filled with stress.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
During my time off, I enjoy working out, reading, and trying new recipes. I also enjoy spending time with my loved ones, and my two miniature schnauzers.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
One thing that truly defines me is my values and beliefs. I take a lot of pride in having strong morals, values, and beliefs.
Can you tell us about a success you had with a client?
One of my favorite success stories from therapy, is actually with a client still with me. I have been seeing a child for therapy for just under a year, with much of their issues centering around anxiety and life transitions. In a short amount of time, the client has been able to go through her daily life without anxious thoughts plaguing her. I have seen a major decrease in her anxiety since starting with her just a few short months ago,
