Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I worked for years with senior citizens in nursing home settings in PA and when I moved to MA I worked with teen mothers in state custody. After working with young adults in state custody I knew I wanted to go back to school for my degree in counseling because I wanted to continue to make a difference in the lives of others.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with all ages but my passion is children, adolescents, young adults, and women who have experienced trauma.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
There is hope and light at the end of the tunnel and sometimes we have to walk through the pain to get there.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I was drawn to the mission of Thriveworks and what they stand for with their 5 core values; especially, Do-Gooders and Teamworks. These two core values along with the others will continue to allow me to grow as a clinician and to challenge my clients to become healthier than what they already are.
What inspires you?
My children inspire me to be a better person and the best parent I can in my life. I was always inspired by Mother Theresa from Calcutta who walked the red district streets to help the poorest of the poor especially children.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Clients can expect a nonthreatening environment and feeling of safety with a therapist who is empathetic and compassionate.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
First session, I would like to accomplish a sense of building a therapeutic relationship and establish boundaries by sharing as much as comfortable. As a clinician I would want to know past counseling experiences such as what worked and what did not, what they hope to achieve and what they seek in a clinician.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
I would want my client's to know you get out of therapy what you put into it; you are the pilot and I am the copilot willing to jump in and support when needed. I will there to support you but also challenge you towards ongoing growth.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I love traveling with my family and exploring new places and cultures. Aside of traveling, I love watching my oldest daughter compete in her America Ninja Warrior runs and my other daughter doing cheer competitions.
What’s one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I am reliable
