Get to know Marguerite

Why did you decide to become a counselor?

One of the greatest gifts we have to give is the ability to be present for another person. I love being able to listen to another person's story and provide them a safe place to explore themself without judgment.

What types of clients do you work with best?

I love working with people who want to make changes that will make their lives fuller and give them more passion for living.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

I love working with clients who feel stuck but are willing to take the step to seek help. I appreciate clients who are willing to be vulnerable enough to trust me to walk alongside them as they navigate life's challenges.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

Life can be challenging. Seeking therapy is not a weakness, it is having the strength to care for yourself as much as you care for others.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

I chose Thriveworks because I want to work with a company and other clinicians that will help me grow as a counselor. I want to work within a community of counselors that can share their experiences so we can all benefit from each other.

What inspires you?

Being able to be there for someone who feels alone in their journey.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

My goal for the first session is to get to know each other. Therapy is built on trust and having a good therapeutic relationship. I will ask you what you want to accomplish with therapy and help you set goals, but most importantly I will listen to you and give you the space you need to tell your story.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

To understand what the client's goals are for therapy. To learn where they are and where they want to go.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?

I use various treatment techniques and philosophies based on my client's needs. My goal is to help and empower my clients to learn to develop their own solutions and give them lifelong skills for solving life challenges.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

I love spending time with my family and friends, doing various arts and crafts, and watching a good comedy. Laughter is the best medicine!

What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

I'm a lifelong learner. I love to learn new things and develop more significant knowledge of what I have already learned.
