About Provider

About Janette

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 5 years of experience. My training in systems theories helps me understand how individuals function within the greater systems around them. I specialize in working with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, relationship stress, attachment challenges, and major life transitions. I also enjoy helping couples strengthen communication, manage conflict, and rebuild trust.

I hold a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from La Salle University. I use solution-focused and strength-based approaches, along with Gottman methods and psychoeducation, to meet clients where they are. My work combines talk therapy, written resources, social media clips, and interactive strategies to support meaningful growth and change.

Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone. My goal is not to fix you but to walk alongside you as you explore new perspectives and tools for healing. If you’ve been wondering if therapy is right for you, I invite you to reach out for a consultation.

Janette became a therapist due to a passion for helping others and understanding human connection. As well as, knowing that representation matters, wanting to be able to help people with cultural similarities find healing.

What types of clients do you work with best?

Janette works best with individuals, families, and couples who are open to the therapy process who want to feel supported in their life.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

Im most excited to work with those new to therapy, those who are returning to therapy to focus recent stressors or issues wether that be as an individual or a couple.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

Therapy is for everyone, you just have to find the right therapeutic fit.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

I chose to work at Thriveworks for its collaborative approach, vast diversity in mental health clinicians and numerous approaches to a multitude of treatment modalities. They encourages continuing education, advancement, and flexibility which allows therapist to deliver great care.

What inspires you?

While being a therapist has afforded me a wealth of knowledge my clients inspire and and are always teaching me with their human experiences.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

During your first session expect a conversation, using curiosity to get to know know you and what led to the appointment, a goal oriented treatment plan, followed by chance for the clients to provide feedback, ask questions, and schedule a reoccurring appointment to meet goals.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

My biggest mission in the first session is getting to know you, understanding symptoms or concerns, providing a diagnosis, and creating your therapeutic goals.

What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?

I am approachable and open. I want to meet you where you are. My job is to walk beside you not lead you.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

In my spare time I am recharging myself with lots of self care and/or spending time with loved ones trying out new things locally or via travel, or just hanging out for good laughs and great vibes.

What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

One thing that defines is that I'm human too! I am Black and a woman that has the ability to transform strength from struggle and that is both beautiful and empowering.
