Get to know Deborah

Why did you decide to become a counselor?

I found that while working with kids and teens in a major city children's hospital, I wanted to learn how to better help and support them in a much deeper way.

What types of clients do you work with best?

I work best with clients that are motivated to work collaboratively towards meeting their goals.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

I am excited to work more with adults, as most of my career has been spent working with children and teens.

What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?

I don't have all the answers, but I will work with clients to discover them.

Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?

I liked the energy of the people I initially met and their commitment toward excellence in meeting our clients' needs.

What inspires you?

I am inspired, and often surprised, by the beauty and intricacies of nature.

What can clients expect in their first session with you?

Clients can expect a person-centered approach, as way to begin developing a therapeutic relationship.

What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?

My goal is to begin to develop a therapeutic relationship, and for the individual to come away with one thing they can use during the week.

What do you do for fun/on your time off?

I enjoy reading, watching TV, listening to music, antique-ing, and thrift shopping.

What’s one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?

I am an introvert to the core.
