About Deborah
Debbie Eshelman is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with over 18 years of clinical experience working with children, teens, and adults who are seeking help in coping with their depression, ADHD, anxiety, physical/sexual abuse, sexual assault, co-occurring disorders, emotional dysregulation, and behavioral issues.
Debbie completed her Master’s of Education in Counseling Education at the University of North Texas. Her underlying approach to counseling is based on client-centered therapy, working at the client’s comfort level and pace throughout the counseling process. She utilizes tools from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), as well. Debbie has a wide range of counseling experience in various settings, including typical outpatient offices, schools, shelters, and inpatient facilities.
Debbie is sure to keep in mind the specific needs and goals of each individual client, and works to provide a warm, caring, and non-judgmental therapeutic environment. Partner with her to uncover your inner strengths and address your personal obstacles. Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I found that while working with kids and teens in a major city children's hospital, I wanted to learn how to better help and support them in a much deeper way.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I work best with clients that are motivated to work collaboratively towards meeting their goals.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am excited to work more with adults, as most of my career has been spent working with children and teens.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
I don't have all the answers, but I will work with clients to discover them.

What inspires you?
I am inspired, and often surprised, by the beauty and intricacies of nature.

Clients can expect a person-centered approach, as way to begin developing a therapeutic relationship.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
My goal is to begin to develop a therapeutic relationship, and for the individual to come away with one thing they can use during the week.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I enjoy reading, watching TV, listening to music, antique-ing, and thrift shopping.
