Why did you decide to become a counselor?
It wasn't a difficult decision. I've always wanted to be a therapist. I have a passion for helping others and it comes naturally to me. I grew up and endured first-hand experiences related to mental health which fuels my passion to help others.
What types of clients do you work best with?
I work best with clients who are in need of a compassionate and caring environment. If you're looking for someone to truly get to know you and help guide you in a safe, non-judgmental way, I may be a good fit for you.
How do you tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs?
My focus in treatment is building a strong rapport, which means I am focusing on getting to know you as best as I can. I focus on building trust and safety to ensure needs can be safely expressed and met. This will provide a better ability for me to tailor therapy to best meet your needs.
What can clients expect in their first session with you and in the early stages of therapy?
The intake session will focus on collecting relevant data to properly assess my ability to help you and to prepare a proper plan for treatment. The early stages of therapy I will focus on getting to know you more while balancing current day stressors and priorities. This helps to build trust, rapport, and a safe environment for you to discuss difficult topics and situations.
What personal experiences or values inform your practice as a therapist/provider?
My core values are: Compassionate, Understanding, Responsible, Supportive, Respectful. I bring my core values with me in the therapy space and is a large part of how I inform practicing as a therapist. As a survivor of childhood trauma, I add another layer of compassion, understanding, and safety to the way I practice.
