About Alyssa
I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 2 years of experience supporting individuals managing anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, grief, and autism spectrum disorder in individual and group settings, as well as 8 years in the behavioral health field. I also have experience working with families seeking psychoeducation and support while navigating a family member's ASD diagnosis.
I earned my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lock Haven University. I utilize integrated and inclusive approaches, leaning into DBT, strengths-based, and solution-oriented strategies while also leaving room for what aligns most with the client's needs. I leave room for creativity and allow space for the client to process in a way that feels safe to them.
I'm passionate about helping clients feel seen, heard, and supported as they take the first steps toward healing. I create a safe, inclusive, and collaborative space where clients are empowered to grow and thrive at their own pace. When you're ready to begin, I welcome you to reach out and schedule an initial appointment.

"I believe that honoring your unique experiences and strengths is essential to empowering you on your path to healing and self-discovery."

Why did you decide to become a counselor or psychiatric provider?
I believe we all have our own personal experiences that shape who we are and who we want to become. I am grateful for my experiences that have allowed me to turn pain to purpose as well as learn ways to increase my own well-being and I value being an active member in an individual's journey to do the same.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I am flexible with my approach and client populations. I feel sessions are most successful when clients respond well to person-centered approach, as that helps guide our sessions to areas that clients feel they need the most help in. For clients that struggle with opening up or engagement, I utilize their interests to introduce play-based and expressive therapies to support their ability to share information in a way that feels safe.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I look forward to working with clients who need support in navigating traumatic experiences, and those looking for ways to increase their ability to manage symptoms of anxiety, depression, ADHD, and ASD. I also look forward to working with clients who are willing to bring out their inner child and get creative with their engagement.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
It gets harder before it gets better.
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I am interested in a flexible environment that allows for a work-life balance, I would like more experience with adult clients, and I am excited for the opportunity to increase diagnostic skills and utilization of the DSM-5.
What inspires you?
I find inspiration in witnessing clients' resilience to challenges, personal growth, and self-discovery.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
A first session with me will involve rapport building which will look different depending on the client and abilities. You can expect to share about background information, support systems, personal strengths and areas of need, and areas of interests/personal talents; this information will be used to support treatment goals and objectives.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I'd hope to have a client feel more comfortable about the therapeutic process after their first session by answering their questions, providing clarity around confidentiality, and allowing them the space and autonomy to share how they envision their process to look.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
I am easy-going and lean on my sense of humor once rapport is established. I will challenge clients to move out of their comfort zone at a pace that feels comfortable to them. I hope to learn from my clients; I value an individual's personal experiences and am always willing to provide the space for a client to share more about their worldview.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I enjoy going to concerts, spending time with friends, gardening, making candles, and going down the shore during the summer.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I am resilient and am able to face challenges with grace while letting myself learn from the mistakes.
