Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I first started working in addictions and I quickly noticed how much I enjoyed coming to work. Seeing people work on themselves on a daily basis and start to notice the progress they are making within themselves motivated me to want to become a counselor for my career.
What types of clients do you work with best?
Being trained in EMDR and trauma informed care, I work best with patients who have a history of trauma. I also work well with patients who are struggling with addiction.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am excited to work with patients who are open minded for change and goals that they want to work on.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
Someone always has something that they can work on. "If nothing changes then nothing changes."
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I wanted to work somewhere that allows patients to use their insurance to pay for therapy. I previously worked at a practice that was private pay only and that added financial stress to the patient.
What inspires you?
I am inspired by people who show resilience and don't give up.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
My main goal for the first session is to develop a relationship with the client. I like to have an open conversation that allows clients to feel safe and to want to engage further in conversation.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
After getting to know the patient, I like to establish goals to work on with the patient and collaborate how we are going to start accomplishing those goals.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
I have 2 lovely dogs that I call my therapy dogs, they like to lay next to me while I do counseling sessions.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I like to do activities that are active, read, and watch Netflix.
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
I am a mother, a wife and a former Division 1 athlete.
