Why did you decide to become a counselor?
Ever since I was a little girl I wanted to help people feel better. I grew up in a house that encouraged acts of service and consideration of other people. I guess my gravitation towards being a therapist is a natural progression of a lifetime spent doing what I can to make the world a better place.
What types of clients do you work with best?
While I can work and help just about anybody, there are some commonalities in the people that have made the most progress when working with me. People that are open and ready for change, and are willing to try new ways of thinking and behaving, see the most progress.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients knew that every problem that they have is solvable. It may not get solved in the way they want, but everything has a solution.
What inspires you?
I am constantly inspired by people who move through extremely difficult circumstances and keep moving forward. I’m inspired by watching children run and play and the sounds of their giggling. I’m inspired by any view in nature, the night sky and the smell of a bonfire on a cool fall evening.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
After our first session together, you can expect to feel heard and encouraged and hopeful.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I always wish I had something exciting to put for these questions… The truth is I enjoy solitude and naps and sitting on the porch listening to the birds and squirrels. I do enjoy going to the movies or hiking. My teenagers periodically get me to play video games with them and try to be good losers on the off-chance that I have beginners luck.
