Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I have always enjoyed helping others. Even as a little kid, I always gravitated to the under dog or the child who no one else wanted to sit with. I have always been empathetic and wanted everyone to be included. I thoroughly enjoy being a reliable resource for someone in need.
What types of clients do you work with best?
I feel like I am just a big kid-- so I get along best with the younger population. Lately, I have really enjoyed high school and college aged students. I can build rapport with anyone!
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I am excited to work with people who are ready to begin their own healing journey!
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
There is no such thing as failure in therapy. Once you bring yourself into session, you are already successful!
Why did you choose to practice at Thriveworks?
I love the mission at Thriveworks, I love the new opportunities it is offering me, and I love that I can connect with coworkers from all across the nation.
What inspires you?
My family! My husband, parents, and grandparents are the most important people to me. I want to be better because they inspire me to reach my full potential! I also love music, and listening to a good lyric can really motivate me as well.
What can clients expect in their first session with you?
Kindness, approachability, transparency, and trust. There is no space for judgement.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
I want to get to know a client and I want them to get to know me. Rapport with clients is one of the most important qualities in a therapeutic relationship. I want everyone to feel at ease and comfortable with me.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first counseling session?
I have worked in the mental health field since I was 19 years old. I got licensed as an LPC in 2018 and licensed as an LPCC in 2022. I love what I do. I'm passionate about my work, and I'm passionate about my clients.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
I love listening to music. I can play piano, guitar, and ukulele. I do community theater in my spare time and my favorite role I have ever played was Arista, a mer-sister, in The Little Mermaid. I love to play bocce and have played in international tournaments. I also played volleyball on a junior Olympic level. While I only play sand volleyball now, it's still fun to brush up my skills. I'm getting better at my golf game, am a huge movie buff, and reading thrillers or (auto)biographies. Lastly, my dogs are the second best thing to my family. Without their snuggles, I'd be lost!
What's one thing about you that defines you (non-professional)?
Music! I can't live without it! The Beatles and Carole King are my biggest influences from the classic rock era, and Zac Brown and Sara Bareilles are my favorite modern artists. However, I'm not above putting on a 90s pop or show tune playlist. The music options ar endless!
